Make your own edible apple roses. They taste just as good as they look!
Cut the apples in half and remove the core carefully. Cut into thin slices, across the apple.
Juice the lemon. Add the lemon juice to a bowl with the apple slices and a splash of water. Microwave for three minutes.
In a separate bowl, add a little water to 6 tbsp of jam. Microwave for one minute and stir.
Unwrap a block of thawed puff pastry. Cut into long rectangles (approx. 6 x 20 cm)
Brush each strip with the jam mix. Over one long edge of the pastry, place the apple slices in a line, slightly overlapping and overhanging the edge of the pastry. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Leave a little edge of pastry at both ends. Aim to layer 7 to 8 slices of apple per strip.
Fold the bottom half of the dough over the apple slices, leaving the rounded edges of the apple slices uncovered. Roll the dough to make an apple rose. Repeat for the rest of the pastry strips.
Place the apple roses in a silicone muffin tin and bake on the middle shelf in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
Leave to cool and remove from silicone tray. Dust with icing sugar.
