Chapatis

This three ingredient recipe makes fresh chapatis from scratch. Perfect enjoyed with curry.

Method:

  1. Add the chapati flour and salt to a large bowl.
  2. Add the warm water to the bowl, a little at a time, kneading as you go, until you have a soft, elastic dough. Knead for 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle a little flour onto a clean flat surface. Divide the dough into eight and shape each piece into a ball.
  4. Flatten the balls slightly, then place one onto the floured surface. Roll it out into a flat disc approximately 15cm in diameter, flouring the board when necessary.
  5. Heat a flat frying pan on a medium heat. Lay the chapati in pan and cook for about 30 seconds or until the  surface is bubbling.
  6. Turn the chapati over with tongs and cook the other side for 20 seconds. As soon as brown spots appear on the underside, the chapati is done.
  7. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
